Golden Opportunity For Children to join Summer Camp - 2012
Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust, had organized the Summer Camp 2012 for the Children & Youth at Mt.Roskill War Memorial, May Road, Mt.Roskill from 09th January to 13th January 2012. This year we had above 75 participants ranging from the age group of 5 to 16.
The Summer Camp was inaugurated by the Education Chairperson, Ms. Roopa Suchdev QSM, with an initial morning prayer – “Hum ko mann ki Shakti dena”. It has been a regular practice by us to start the day with a prayer, thus passing on the same cultural values to our future generations. Following the Morning Prayer every day,it was time for a fun and energy filled aerobics work out session under the expert guidance of renowned Fitness instructor, Ms.Ella Kumar. thoroughly and also the parents would stay back to watch their children enjoy the workout. This fun filled workout was followed by nutrition in the form of morning breakfast with milk. Then, would begin a series of workshops and activities; which were pre-planned by our team of volunteers and teachers for the entireday. The day included regular nutrition breaks in the form of lunch,fruit and evening snack. During these 5 fun filled days, the children at the Camp attended various workshops including Drawing, Colouring, Arts & Crafts, Dance, Music and also Self Defence.
On 11th of January 2012, we had arranged for a day picnic for the children to Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT), wherein the children enjoyed making shadow puppets, tram ride, dance and were among the first ones to take ride in the newly installed space ship at MOTAT. During these days, the children have also actively participated in various dance sequences. They have rehearsed these sequences quite hard enough to deliver a good performance on 21st of February 2012 during the 63rd Republic Day Celebration at Mt. Roskill War Memorial, 13 May Road, Mt. Roskill. Hope you all would be present there to cheer them up.
We have made all the efforts to make these five days fun, enjoyable and memorable for these children. Hopeto see them again next year for another round of exciting and delighting Summer Camp. We sincerely thank all the Volunteers and Teachers to have extended their whole-hearted support to make the Summer Camp a grand success. Bhartiya Samaj Celebrated 63rd Republic Day of India on 21st Jan 2012.
On 21st January 2012, Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust celebrated the 63rd Indian Republic Day with utmost enthusiasm at Mt.Roskill War Memorial, May Road, Mt.Roskill, Auckland. The event was inaugurated by the Chairperson of Bhartiya Samaj, Mr. Jeet Suchdev QSM, JP in the presence of dignitaries’ like Dr. Jackie Blue, Mr.Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi, Members of Parliament, Bhartiya Samaj Patrons - Dr.Bruce Hucker QSO, Ex-Deputy Mayor of Auckland, Dr. Ashraf Choudhary QSO, Ex- Member of Parliament and Ms. Ella Kumar, Member of Aucland Council Local Board. All the members present at the event, celebrated the 63rd Indian Republic Day with a feeling of pride and glory towards the achievements of our Golden Indian history.
The event marked the conclusion of the Children & Youth Summer Camp 2012 wherein we saw various on stage dance and song performances by the participants of the Summer Camp. Even the parents of these children were present at the occasion to cheer them up. We thank all the children who participated in these performances for putting up such a great show. Certificates of Appreciation were handed over by the Dignitaries to the Volunteers and Teachers who had devoted their time, knowledge and energy towards making the Summer Camp 2012 a great success.
Also the event kick-started a new season of Senior Citizen’s Fortnightly meetings, wherein we saw a gathering of more than 200 senior members happily joining us back. We also were delighted to receive many new members to our Senior Citizens Group. As an occasion of new beginning, we were graced by the melodious songs sung by many members from the Seniors Group. The entire event was concluded by a delicious lunch served to all the members and volunteers present at the occasion. Bhartiya Samaj wishes to celebrate many such events in the coming future. We are highly obliged to receive such enormous support and love from the Community and hopes receive them always.
